The Rocky River Generating Station is a three-unit hydroelectric station located on the Housatonic River.

Completed in 1928, this project is the first pumped-storage station in the US. Today it serves as the centralized dispatch center for all of CT hydro.

The water released by Rocky River station is used by downstream facilities and also creates Candlewood Lake—the state’s largest.
