FirstLight Power Resources (FirstLight) has a long tradition of supporting community organizations and activities focused on its reservoirs and river systems. We are committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which we operate and live, and we accomplish this through a thoughtful corporate program of volunteering, activities, and charitable giving.

The Housatonic River Project Fund (HRP Fund) provides an equitable process whereby reputable and capable organizations can apply for and receive funding for activities and projects that meet the goal of improving the quality of life within the Housatonic River region as defined by the HRP Fund.

Areas of Funding Focus

The HRP Fund empowers community organizations operating in the 23-towns within the Housatonic River region by focusing on four investment priorities.
Water Quality
Protecting, improving or restoring natural resources within the Housatonic River system and its reservoirs, with an
emphasis on water quality.
Life Safety
Supporting efforts to enhance the safety of the public in and along the Housatonic River system.
Environmental Awareness
Increasing, enhancing or strengthening access to environmental programming and experiences that expand awareness of our natural surroundings.
Energy and Sustainability
Promoting energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability efforts within our region.

Grant Application Process

FirstLight seeks grant applications for initiatives, programs and
projects that meet the mission of the HRP Fund and fall within our areas of focus. Most awards are in the range of $1,000 to $10,000, however higher amounts may be awarded when a program is an exceptional fit or fulfills matching grant criteria. Additional support in the form of materials and sponsorships may be made at the discretion of FirstLight.

The 2019 HRP Fund grant cycle will open on January 31, 2019 and close on April 1, 2019.  All applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2019 for consideration in this fiscal year. Awards will be announced on or before June 1, 2019.
