FirstLight Power was delighted to welcome representatives from Greenfield Community College, MassHire Franklin Hampshire Career Center, Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Regional Council of Governments, and the Town of Erving on November 26th for a tour of FirstLight’s Northfield Mountain energy storage facility. The visit also offered GCC’s newly named Chief Workforce Development Officer, Dawn Creighton, an opportunity to share ideas with senior FirstLight executives on developing technical certifications and engineering coursework that can best prepare GCC students for careers at FirstLight Power and other renewable energy companies.

“Partnerships between GCC and local employers are a valuable part of developing a skilled workforce and building the local economy here in Franklin County,” Creighton said. “We are delighted to partner with FirstLight, we and thank them for their support of our local workforce and for the important role they play in our community.”

Carter Wall, FirstLight’s Northfield-based Manager of Government Affairs and Community Relations added: “FirstLight is proud to be a major employer in Franklin County, and many of our Northfield Mountain staff make their homes in the county as well. We’re regularly looking to recruit new team members who are committed to our values of safety, respect, integrity, and operational excellence, and we greatly appreciate GCC’s interest in making their already excellent workforce development efforts even stronger and more responsive to the needs of local employers today and tomorrow.”
