On September 28th, FirstLight Power fielded a team of 116 wonderful local volunteers to help collect trash and debris along the Gill/Montague stretch of the Connecticut river and its tributaries as part of the 23rd annual “Source to Sea Cleanup”.

Every year, more than 2,800 volunteers fan out over 174 miles from the Canadian border to Long Island Sound for the annual Source to Sea Cleanup, spearheaded by the Connecticut River Conservancy.   Franklin County teams, made up of the Green River team and FirstLight’s greater Gill-Montague team, included volunteers who removed over 200 cubic yards of trash and 4000 pounds of scrap metal.

FirstLight would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated this year.  Key support for safely disposing of collected trash was provided by the towns of Greenfield and Montague, and FirstLight would like to offer special thanks to USA Hauling and Recycling, which provided dumpsters.
