As the largest clean energy generation portfolio in New England, FirstLight is building a strong leadership team with the experience, passion and energy to be a driving force in our evolution from large clean power independent power producer (IPP) to a company that will design, create and deliver integrated solutions to meet the clean energy needs of tomorrow. We are proud to employ over 130 employees across the country including our corporate headquarters in Burlington, MA and our operating offices in PA, Northfield, MA and New Milford, CT. Our dedicated team is working together to advance our mission to accelerate the decarbonization of the electric grid by supporting the operation and integration of FirstLight’s large-scale renewable energy and storage assets to meet the region’s growing clean energy needs by delivering an electric system that is clean, reliable, affordable and equitable.

Our Senior Leadership Team

Alicia Barton

President & Chief Executive Officer

Having dedicated her career to fighting climate change and advancing new cleantech solutions, Alicia Barton brings extensive clean energy leadership experience from both the public and private sectors to her role as CEO of FirstLight Power. She has held high-profile public service roles – most recently serving as the President and as CEO of the New York Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and previously as CEO of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), where she helped both New York and Massachusetts to advance and implement nation-leading clean energy strategies. Alicia’s prior private sector experience includes serving as Co-Chair of the Energy and Cleantech Practice at Foley Hoag LLP and as Chief of Operations of the Global Utility business unit at SunEdison, where she oversaw teams building utility-scale wind and solar projects.

Building on a career of advancing new clean energy projects and markets in areas such as offshore wind, solar, energy storage, building electrification, and accelerating clean technology innovation, Alicia joined the FirstLight team to leverage the full potential of the largest fleet of clean energy assets in New England and to make FirstLight a market leader in designing and delivering the next generation of integrated renewable energy and storage products to accelerate the decarbonization of the electric grid. She also serves on the Board of Directors of prominent climate-focused organizations, including serving as Chair of the Board for Greentown Labs, the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America.

As a proud mother, she’s dedicated to building a cleaner, brighter future for the next generation. In her free time, she enjoys helping her young son explore the natural world around New England through hiking, cross-country skiing and paddling, and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
